Supporting You Through Pregnancy

Despite the increase in doctor visits, as well as stigma surrounding, pregnancy is not a disease.

Throughout your pregnacy, you should be able to function as normal with work and exercise up to nearly your delivery date. The purpose of prenatal care is to monitor your pregnancy and symptoms in order to detect potential high-risk factors if and as they develop and to treat them appropriately. You should not be expecting drastic limitations to your daily life, but if such issues occur, we are here to help you through them.

Always ask your provider or call us—we’re here to help you decide what’s safe for you.

The LactMed® database contains information on drugs and other chemicals to which breastfeeding mothers may be exposed. It includes information on the levels of such substances in breast milk and infant blood, and the possible adverse effects in the nursing infant. Suggested therapeutic alternatives to those drugs are provided, where appropriate. All data are derived from the scientific literature and fully referenced. A peer review panel reviews the data to assure scientific validity and currency.

Our Commitment to Maternal Mental and Behavioral Health

From our inception, we have emphasized the positive impact of optimal mental and behavioral health. Applying an integration of models and validated screens, we create a safe space for mothers to express their concerns and feel heard and validated. We work with local and online therapists. We collaborated with FSU COM and UF mental and behavioral health programs to both identify and link to treatment. We hope to collaborate with the SMA Psychiatric Residency now in its first year, training 10 new psychiatrists each year, hopefully many staying in our area to practice.
